History:
The Murray State University was founded in 1922. The Murray State University has grown from an enrollment of 202 to more than 10,000 today. Murray State University has been ranked among the top 25 percent of Southern regional and liberal arts colleges in U.S. News & World Report's annual publication, America's Best Colleges. Recognition of the quality of MSU program is reflected in accreditations. Murray State has been continuously accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) since 1928

Located in the Jackson Purchase lake area of west Kentucky, Murray State is a tax-supported university with five academic colleges and one school. The university's 232 main campus is in Murray, a city of 17,000. The main campus comprises 71 major buildings, including classroom and office buildings and two libraries.
The university began offering programs in business and public affairs in 1935. The College of Business and Public Affairs was formed in 1966. Since 1975, both undergraduate and graduate business program are accredited by AACSB-International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Murray State University is among the leading universities in the South. Barron's college guide lists MSU as "very competitive." Murray has also been singled-out as a "best value" by Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, ranking among the top nine public universities in the nation for quality education with affordable out-of-state rates. And MSU was one of only six public universities in America to make the prestigious "Hidden Treasure" list, just published by Kaplan Inc.
