History:
Henan lies in the heart of China, and is the origin of Chinese civilization. Apart from Longmen Grottoes one of the world cultural heritages, Henan is also well known worldwide for the Shaolin Temple and Chen’s taiji boxing. Being the birthplace of ZHANG Zhong-jing, and the roots of Chinese Medicine, ancient physicians of great celebrities have been coming forth in Henan.

HUTCM was established in 1958. HUTCM was authorized by the State Academic Council to confer Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and to collaborate with other universities or colleges in enrolling doctorate students. It was also approved by the Ministry of Education to enroll students of foreign nationalities as well as students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. HUTCM offers a Bachelor’s in the fields of Medicine, Management, Engineering Science and Arts with 17 specialties as Chinese Medicine, Herbology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Acupuncture and Tuina, Integrated Chinese-Western Medicine and Public Management. It offers also a Master’s in 21 specialties, of which Chinese Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Herbal Prescriptions, Herbology, Acupuncture and Tuina are the priority disciplines of Henan Province. The University Faculty is made up of 15 doctoral tutors, 138 professors, 392 associate professors, 823 lecturers on campus and 19 state nominated and 15 province-nominated distinguished specialists. HUTCM has presently over 10000 students including over 150 overseas students. HUTCM comprises 20 laboratories and 3 hospitals with 1500 beds besides the herbal plantation for quality control, pharmaceutical factory and specimen rooms. A number of institutions have been established in the studies of Zhang Zhong-Jing’s theories, AIDS, hepatic diseases, gerontology, splenic and gastric diseases, pediatrics, rheumatoid arthritis and ophthalmology. HUTCM library has a collection of over 800,000 volumes and over 2,000 varieties of periodicals both from home and abroad. It also publishes the HENAN CHINESE MEDICINE, and JOURNAL OF HENAN UNIVERSITY OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE. HUTCM is building a campus which is 854,000m large, modern and garden-like. China Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine provides overseas students with a favorable studying and living condition, and is open to anyone from home and abroad who is interested in Chinese Medicine.
